Session 1: Lego Serious Play - Management Consultancy International

LEGO Serious Play is the methodology used by organisations such as Google, Qantas and Suncorp to encourage all the voices in the room to be heard and to invigorate training sessions.

At this session, participants learned more about how to:

  • Turn a compliance topic into a session where everyone participates fully and constructively
  • Create a learning environment that is fun and inviting – even when the topic is serious
  • Use play techniques to motivate and engage team members
  • Make use of time efficiently and avoid people tuning out of the discussion
  • Provoke new learning and innovative thinking

The session provided both theory and practice to enable participants to apply the skills in their own context and environment.· Participants benefited by learning about a unique technique that supplemented their  facilitation toolbox.
·
Play is finding a place in the office as companies push aside the whiteboards and speaker phones to make way for piles of brightly coloured building blocks.· For more on this go to

Session 2 - Discovery Based Learning & ROI - BTS
We have all had to endure boring lectures and death by PowerPoint and research supports what we all now agree - the bulk of these traditional teaching methods no longer stick. What we now know is that adults learn best from experience, and that ‘discovery based learning’ works best. BTS are the experts at this, experiential learning.

At this session we provided an overview of a number of different ways we can develop education programs that create a realistic environment to test “what-if” scenarios. These allowed participants to learn by doing, in a risk free environment; which accelerates learning and gets results.

Participants learned about a number of these methodologies, including IT based simulations, board game style activities, interactive online solutions, and engage maps have been used successful in industries including banking, financial services, insurance, automotive, FMCG, telecommunications, construction, oil and gas, and retail.  For more on this go to www.bts.com

What's New with CPD Sydney Session

View Sydney feedback or view Melbourne feedback or view Brisbane feedback

Sydney highlights: we had a great turn out for the session with about 30 people coming to hear John Green share the background and changes to the CPD process. The session was well planned and geared to engage audience members in informal discussion around the CPD policy and its impact from a learning and development perspective.

John was great at setting the pace and taking time to consider and respond to the questions and input from the audience.

A big thanks to John Green from the FPA and to Arndria Seymour and the Commonwealth Bank for providing such a wonderful venue and excellent catering.

Some comments from the feedback:

"Very Important and enjoyable, especially for financial planner and facilitators, I welcome the changes." Colin Lovesay AMP

"Good to have the opportunity to discuss issues with the FPA & others. Could have had this earlier as we have to redesign or training plans."

"A few ideas came out of today's seminar, eg: guidance for new providers/courses on applying for CPD accreditation: facilitated opportunity for providers to network with licensee L&D managers."

"Excellent session, well done"
